So last night, I made a pretty lengthy iphoto slideshow as a tribute to my mom for her memorial service on this coming Sunday. I wanted to share it with my uncle and sister and had uploaded a mobile version to google docs and shared it with them. My sister was able to watch it on her phone with no problem, but my uncle was unfamiliar with gmail as he did not have an account. He also didn't understand the nature of sharing google docs and I was getting disappointed that he would not be able to see it.
I remembered someone tweeting a post about Screen Leap where I can share my screen with people through a link.
This is what I liked about it:
1. It is free!!!! Again, it is free!!!!
2. I did not have to sign up for an account
3. My uncle was able to click the link on his iPad and watch the slideshow
4. I knew when he was viewing because the small screenleap window said I had one viewer
5. I can stop sharing the screen any time I want
My uncle was able to watch the video of my mom from beginning to end!!
Now I am contemplating the educational usages of it. I think I will use it to demonstrate to my students how to share a Google doc with me as I want them to keep an e-journal for TOK.
